Russia will march upon all the nations of Europe, particularly Italy, and will raise her flag over the dome of St. Peter’s.—Blessed Elena Aiello (1895-1961.)
As most of you know, Public Revelation is comprised of the Bible and the Magisterium. It is necessary for salvation because it is the Divine Revelation of the Blessed Trinity. Man, because of original sin and actual sin, cannot see God without God’s help. This is why public revelation is absolutely necessary for us to obtain the Beatific Vision.
Private Revelation, on the other hand, includes mystical visions and locutions given to holy people following the death of the last Apostle (St. John.) One need not believe even approved Private Revelations to be saved. (However, if a Catholic rejects a private revelation as big as Fatima, one has to worry for one’s salvation.)
Outside of visions officially approved by the Church, the difficulty with private revelation is that so many Catholics today claim to have many visions and locutions. So, besides the old-school approved apparitions (like Paray-Le-Monial, Lourdes, Guadalupe, etc.) I usually don’t give much credence to new private revelations.
However, I grant much more likelihood to a private revelation when it comes from a beatified person like Elena Aiello. She was a 20th century Italian mystic who was also a stigmatist.

Before we get into her private revelations, I want to refer to the private revelations of a 17th century priest, Ven. Bartholomew Holzhauser, who is also on his way to canonization. He is rightly considered a prophet who outlined the Seven Ages of the Church. Most traditional Catholics (including me) believe we are currently in the Fifth Age of the Church. This age began with the Protestant Revolt and will probably end with the heresy of Modernism going out with a bang. (Literally a bang, as we shall soon see.)
The above link explains the following about the Fifth Age of the Church: “God will permit this great evil against His Church. Heretics and tyrants will come suddenly and unexpectedly. They will break into the Church while bishops, prelates and priests are asleep. They will enter Italy and lay waste Rome. They will burn the churches and destroy everything.” Obviously, we are there, even if the infiltration was soft, not hard. (And by soft, I mean, extremely soft.)
Our current Fifth Age includes tremendous heresies and darkness. It will probably end when a Pope accurately consecrates Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Our Lady of Fatima said this consecration would indeed be done—but quite late in the game. This would begin the era of peace, also predicted at Fatima. This will be the Sixth Age of the Church.
But if the Fifth Age lasted five hundred years, the Sixth Age (although a beautiful and peaceful one) should only last a short time. Our Lady of La Salette said that the “great harvest” of souls entering the Catholic Church would last only 25 years.
Now, let’s switch gears to the current conflict in the world in the Spring of 2026. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that if the US conflict with Iran escalates, Russia and China will support Iran. Of course, the US and Israel and NATO would be united on the same side in such a global conflict. This could become a global conflict of West versus East.
Numerous Catholic prophets and even Eastern Orthodox seers of the past thousand years have predicted such a global war between West and East. They all say that the East will win. Could this conflict be Holzhauser’s threshold between the Fifth and Sixth Age of the Church?
Of course, real prophesy always comes true, but often in ways we don’t expect. Prophesies are always true in retrospect, but perhaps remain hidden for those who seek a Germanic literal outcome every time. For example, looking back, we know without a doubt that Jesus Christ fulfilled over four hundred prophesies of the Old Testament as the true and only Messiah. But these fulfillments were not always obvious to those first century folks who sought a literal outcome for every single verse of the Hebrew Scriptures.

Here is where Blessed Elena Aiello (1895-1961, above) comes in. Although there are several aspects about the current Vatican situation that I admittedly can’t square with her writings, we have to realize that true prophesy always comes true—just not always in the ways we expect. Blessed Elena (a stigmatist with the crown of thorns in the 20th century) said many serious things were happening in the world, but here’s an excerpt of the most important:
People are offending God too much. Were I to show you all the sins committed on a single day, you would surely die of grief. These are grave times. The world is thoroughly upset because it is in a worse condition than at the time of the deluge. Materialism marches on ever fomenting bloody strifes and fratricidal struggles.
and
The hour of the justice of God is close, and will be terrible! Tremendous scourges are impending over the world, and various nations are struck by epidemics, famines, great earthquakes, terrific hurricanes, with overflowing rivers and seas, which bring ruin and death. If the people do not recognize in these scourges (of nature) the warnings of Divine Mercy, and do not return to God with truly Christian living, another terrible war will come from the East to the West. Russia with her secret armies will battle America; will overrun Europe.
and
Provinces and cities will be destroyed, and all will cry out that the end of the world has come! Even Rome will be punished according to justice for its many and serious sins, because here sin has reached its peak.
and
Russia will march upon all the nations of Europe, particularly Italy, and will raise her flag over the dome of St. Peter’s. Italy will be severely tried by a great revolution, and Rome will be purified in blood for its many sins, especially those of impurity.
If you put all of those prophesies together, it seems clear that Russia will destroy Europe and the United States. If Russia supports Iran in the current escalating conflict, the stage certainly seems set for the East to punish the West for her sins, especially the sins found in Rome. Not my words. These are words of a recent stigmatist who has been beatified.
This is all supported by Fatima, too. Sister Lucy said to Fr. Fuentes on the 26th of December 1957:
Tell them Father that many times the Most Holy Virgin told my cousins Francisco and Jacinta, as well as myself, that many nations will disappear from the face of the earth. She said that Russia will be the instrument of chastisement chosen by Heaven to punish the whole world if we do not beforehand obtain the conversion of that poor nation.
So it seems the Fifth Age will give birth to the Sixth Age of the Church (one of sweeping conversions to Catholicism) only by way of a violent transition between the two ages that includes Russia as the harsh instrument of God.
Blessed Ana Maria Taigi also adds these striking words to our list of prophesies today:
Many millions of men will die by steel, some in wars, others in conflicts, and millions more by unforeseen death, and this throughout the whole world. As a result, entire nations will return to the unity of the Catholic Church, many Turks, Gentiles and Hebrews will be converted in a way that will surprise Catholics, who will be amazed by the fervor and observance they will show in their lives.
Thus, the threshold between an era of heresy (Holzhauser’s Fifth Age) and the era of peace and countless conversions to Catholicism (Holzhauser’s Sixth Age) could be one of war with Russia by way of the USA attacking Iran.
So, we must ask: Will Russia march on Rome like Blessed Elena predicted? Wouldn’t it be ironic if an Eastern-Catholic Russian Pope finally consecrated Russia herself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary after all these years?
