The above prelate is Bishop Cuthbert O’Gara, a Canadian-born priest who was a heroic missionary to the Far East in the first half of the 20th century. In 1947, Cuthbert was named bishop of Yuanling in 1947. But in 1951, the holy bishop was arrested by Chinese Communists and imprisoned until his expulsion from the country in 1953. Then, he returned to North America to warn Westerners of the evils of Communism.
I only recently learned about him by watching Hugh Owen’s Foundations Restored, a Catholic production unveiling the lies of Darwinian Evolution in favor of Biblical creation.
Bishop Cuthbert insisted that the teaching of Darwin’s evolution was absolutely central to the Communists convincing Christians to stop believing in God. He stated: “The primary purpose of the People’s Government in Peking was to extricate all religious belief and practice… Religion must be destroyed. Darwinism negates God, the human soul, the after-life. Into this vacuum, Communism enters as the be-all and end-all of the intellectual slavery it has created.”
Let’s break that down a little bit. Notice the bishop did not say the Catholics of China attempted to reconcile evolution with Divine Revelation. Rather, he fully recognized the goal of Darwinian evolution: The negation of God, the human soul and belief in the after-life. Notice also that the good bishop insisted that belief in evolution was tantamount to intellectual slavery, the sine qua non of brainwashing the people of China, at least according to the Communists.
Bishop Cuthbert O’Gara was very clear about how the Communists lived out the practical side of this intellectual goal. Elsewhere, he stated: “When the Communist troops overran my diocese, they were followed in very short order by the propaganda corps—the civilian brand of the Red Forces… The entire population was immediately organized… and everyone for a week or more was forced to attend the seminar and in servile submission listen to the official communist line. The very first, the fundamental lesson given was man’s descent from the ape—Darwinism!”
We often forget that one of the very basic messages of Our Lady of Fatima was that if Russia be not consecrated validly with a Pope (and all the bishops) to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, then “Russia will spread its errors throughout the world, raising up wars and persecutions of the Church.”
What are the errors of Russia? They are not just economic issues. Although the economic side of Communism is clearly diabolical, the more central tenet to Communism is that the State must replace God for those who truly hold to Communism. In fact, the creators of Marxism admitted that getting people to believe in Darwinian evolution was central to Communism.
Karl Marx wrote: “I have read all sorts of things. Among others Darwin’s book of Natural Selection. Although it is developed in the crude English style, this is the book which contains the basis in natural history for our view.” And Friedrich Engels added: “Just as Darwin discovered the law of evolution in organic nature, so Marx discovered the law of evolution in human history.”
So, we learn from Fatima that salvation of man would be most hindered by “the errors of Russia.” But these aren’t just concrete buildings and olive fatigues. This starts with Darwinian evolution, because that is tantamount to atheism.
In addition to this, we see from the quotes above that everyone from the holy Bishop Cuthbert to the wicked Karl Marx both admit that Darwinian Evolution is the intellectual vehicle upon which Marxism must march atheism into the souls of the people, including Christians to disavow them of true belief in Biblical Creation and the Redemption.
Yet 90% of mainstream American Catholic clergy today believe in evolution. It’s no wonder their parishes are tanking. This is by design, even if these poor priests attempt some type of “theistic evolution” to marry their modernistic faith to a now-disproven science. (Yes, even atheistic scientists are now turning their back on the defunct theory of Darwin’s evolution.)
Pope St. Pius X also recognized the evils of evolution. Not only does Darwinian Evolution deny the Biblical account of Creation, but it also brings Catholics to the erroneous conclusion that dogma can develop (just like a species.) Pope St. Pius X stated in Pascendi: “Having laid down this law of evolution, the Modernists themselves teach us how it works out…[They] lay down the general principle that in a living religion, everything is subject to change… To the laws of evolution—everything is subject—dogma, Church, worship, the Books we revere as sacred, even faith itself.”
In other words, if apes can “evolve” into men, then Divine Revelation can “evolve” into humanism. If a rat can turn itself into a bat-with-sonar with genetic mutations (er, over millions of years) then a God-centered religion can turn itself into a man-centered religion in just one ecumenical council. And that is exactly what has happened to our dogma in the 20th and 21st century—at least in the minds of most people who were once baptized as Catholics.
Thus, rejecting Darwinian evolution is the sine qua non of being an Apostolic Catholic. Rejecting evolution is necessary to rejecting the heresy of modernism.
